During our annual conference round table discussions attendees shared on the significance of communication during capital improvement project planning. While listening to the experiences being shared a few pieces of the puzzle stood out as being tremendously valuable.
Incorporate Video – Lay out the budget, logistics and responsibilities for how you will capture, edit, archive and circulate videos documenting the status of your renovation project. Think strategically and creatively about the people or perspectives that should be featured in the videos in addition to the physical changes taking place during the renovation timeline.
Share Regular Updates – Keep the excitement of the project front of mind and be transparent with the process. Incorporate data and insights from your research, surveys and focus groups in these updates to remind members why they wanted the renovation and what motivated the change.
Celebrate – Highlight and acknowledge milestones along the way. Plan themed events only possible because of the construction. Organize regular site tours. Identify ways to make the change sentimental through unique keepsakes.
